Crown & Crumpet Planner Par-Tea! San Francisco, CA.
"Would you like an adventure now? Or shall we have our tea first?" - Peter Pan
Lovers of tea and planner-addicts alike, this event is for you! An event featuring two of my favorite things in life: afternoon high tea and working on your planner (haha!) exists on a monthly basis and I got to experience it, this past Sunday in San Francisco, California! One of my best blogger friends, Rebecca, of Style it Green, told me about Crown & Crumpet, during a conversation we had about our love of tea and tea parties. I expressed one of my life goals, which is to visit as many afternoon tea houses as I can, and have high tea with old friends and new - starting with the Bay Area! I am most happy to share that I've added Crown & Crumpet to my list of favorites. It was incredible!
Crown & Crumpet is located in Japantown in San Francisco, CA and when you walk in it's such a delight! They have a larger more open room for afternoon tea service or their "tea stop" where you can also get things to-go. The Planner Par-tea is held on the last Sunday of each month and it was so wonderful! The Par-tea is held in the private party room which was so lovely and whimsical and very much my style. The walls were covered with lovely tea or fashion related art work, the shelves with books, and the tables with the planners and planner supplies of the guests who came. It was a full house and I felt so welcomed and included in the group. The hostess was so lively and friendly and I loved her! In addition to chatting with other lovely guests about planner stuff, you get to try three different teas, tea savories, and desserts! It's so lovely.
Crown & Crumpet, "a stylish room with tea and wit" features wonderful tea related quotes and personality-filled sayings on its tea ware. I absolutely loved the quote on the back of the tea pot because it reminds me of when I first moved to the Bay Area, back in 2012. I had no friends yet but I truly discovered the comfort of solitude during that time. It was hard because though it was a very lonely time in my life being far from my beloved family, it found strength within myself and the comfort of a cup of tea was like a warm hug during this time. The beauty of a tea room and all that the experience of afternoon tea entails was perfect for someone like me who appreciated classical music, savories and sweets, many cups of tea, and simply: time to think. As I made friends, I truly enjoyed sharing this experience I enjoyed alone, with many of them. In the photo above with the quote about men and tea rooms -I'd also like to share that my boyfriend and I had our first date in a tea room and I began to fall in love with then! Such fond memories are attached to my high tea experiences.
If you haven't noticed, most of my blog posts are long-form. I know the trend these days is less photos and less writing, but long-form is more my style and I believe that those who are truly interested will appreciate it. I also can't say enough about how wonderful this tea room is - and as a deep lover of afternoon tea - this means a lot! I urge you to go and check it out for yourself, whether it's attending the Planner Par-Tea or having afternoon tea with a friend or two or three!
Amazingly I restrained myself from buying all of these - maybe after I'm done with summer cleaning? ;)
Special thank you to Sir Amilcar, who was so sweet - he also offered to take my photo which was nice because I usually forget to take photos of myself - I'm usually so focused and often completely immersed in the environment. I have a habit of wanting to capture all of the tiny little details, which in my opinion, is so much more interesting than photos of me in front of everything! But I will show you a few photos of me in front of some of the things, like their "Great Wall of China" - so cute right? I am wearing a Harumi K cat print top with matching earrings, along with my self-drafted, self-designed, and self- made skirt! (All three are important to note because sometimes clothing is only designed by the designer and could even be drafted, and most commonly manufactured by someone else entirely.) Amilcar told me there's a cinema downstairs which is used during events. I'm so curious about that now.
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you thoroughly enjoyed this post and I hope it inspires you to make a stop at the Crown & Crumpet Tea Stop the next time you're in San Francisco! I sure hope to be there as often as I can. Special thank you to Amy Dean for making me feel so welcomed. <3
