Hi, I'm Meileena, the creative mind behind The Sartorial Muse.

I was born and raised in San Diego, California, and I've lived in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2012.

Fashion is an intersection of so many of my interests, and I love sharing all of the great inspiration that I find.

To muse is to consider something thoughtfully, and that is much of what you will see and read here: life considered.

A Muse is a person, who is a source of artistic inspiration. I pull inspiration from all around me, and I love to create and contribute. I love to inspire and be inspired.

And finally, the etymology of the word museum, goes back to Muse, and museum as "a place for the muses". Muse Meileena is my own museum of fashion inspiration, including: documentary of my own fashion history, insightful information on events and engagements, and a chronicle of other interest articles. It is definitely a place for the muses! Or, a Muse Museum, as I like to call it.

More about me: I am 22 years old and studying French Couture while working full-time as a manager at a fabric store. I also host fun shopping events and own a pet accessories business where I design and make custom pet bandanas, bow-ties, and more! I am also a vintage seller (and fanatic!)

Previously, I spent several years working as an advocate for youth and speaking at conferences, serving as the youth voice on the boards of many nonprofit organizations, and creating youth programs that encourage civic engagement. I also interned with nonprofit healthcare organizations and volunteered in hospitals working with doctors and nurses as a support to provide excellent patient care. My childhood dream was to go to medical school and become a doctor. My passion for fashion has me on a detour as I was presented with the opportunity to study French Couture with my favorite designer and decided to pursue it. I am truly an artist and loving every moment that I get to create for others. I hope to combine my passions and also make a difference in the public health and social justice spaces.

Currently, I am connecting my interest in fashion and my passion for working with the community through connecting with fashion-for-a-cause event organizers and holding fashion events and engagements of my own. I previously founded the Foothill College Fashion Network to provide a platform for students to express themselves creatively through fashion and other artistic outlets and connect students to real opportunities in the fashion industry and community. I also started a book club which called: Meeting of the Muses.

In my free time, I love to read, write, paint, draw, dance, and spend time with my wonderful boyfriend. This will be a documentation and reflection of many of those experiences.

I'd love to connect with you! Would you like to partner or collaborate? Email me at meileenabautista@yahoo.com.
